One actor begins on stage doing a single movement with sound as if they were a piece of machinery designed to do one task. At any time, other actors may jump in and perform a single movement as if they are the next or previous step in the machine. The joining actor also makes their own sound to go with the machine. The key here is to add all of the actors to the machine each performing their own function in conjunction with the others. Actors must watch and listen to each other so that their function isn’t performing faster or slower than others. At any point the director can liven things up by slowing or speeding up the machine, creating a jam, or removing a piece (actor) for repair.
