Games Library

The Ponies specialize in short-form improv comedy which centers around creating scenes through the context of games and exercises. Included in our library of games are familiar favorites and original creations. We're always updating our collection too!

Take a look to see how each game is played and check out our guide on how to get your suggestions into the show!

Sound FX

Sound FX

Two actors perform a scene to include a lot of mimed action that will require audience volunteers to provide sound effects for those actions. Actors are encouraged to respond to the sound effects they're given, especially if they don't fit, to try and make them make sense in the scene.

Sportsball

Sportsball

Two actors portray sports commentators during a televised event. Other actors portray the athletes competing in whatever competition the audience suggests. Other actors might play various roles that would be involved, a coach, cheerleader, water boy, interviewer, or crazed fan.

Stipulations

Stipulations

Actors begin a scene until they are paused by the host. Once paused the host will ask for a new rule to be introduced by either other actors not in the scene or the audience. These rules can be limitations (example: removing words, vowels, or movement) or additions (example: making a noise at the end of a sentence, maintaining eye contact, singing every line.) Each time the host pauses the scene, a new rule is added until it becomes too difficult to continue.

Superhero Funeral

Superhero Funeral

One actor starts the scene mourning the loss of a superhero to be named by the audience. The actor gives a reason they perished as well as a brief summary of their accomplishments and states why this hero was important to them. Once they’ve finished they name another guest in attendance at the funeral and invite them to come up and say a few words. Each actor will get the opportunity to name the next guest and their relationship to the deceased.

Superheroes

Superheroes

One actor begins a scene before turning on their superhero monitor to learn of the world crisis they'll need to solve. Knowing they are unable to solve the problem on their own they'll call in the support of their other super friends. A second actor will enter and will be named by the first actor. The second actor then must exhibit the powers of the new hero. When the third actor enters, the second actor names them. When the fourth actor enters, the third actor names them. The action continues for a bit until the fourth actor comes up with a solution and then the actors find reasons to leave one by one.

Tag Team (Back Again)

Tag Team (Back Again)

Two actors begin on stage acting out a scene based on the suggestion of the audience. The other two actors stand on opposite side of the stage. Throughout the scene, actors performing will find a reason to step away from what’s happening and when they walk off either to the right or the left, a new actor will assume their character, mannerisms, voice, etc. The scene will continue once all actors have had a chance to jump in or until the conflict has been resolved.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

All three actors stand on stage. The host asks the audience for any problems they may have that need solved. Once a problem is selected, each actor will offer their advice. Actor 1 offers good advice, a solution that might solve the problem with relatively no harm done. Actor 2 offers bad advice, that would certainly solve the problem but might cause unintended consequences. Finally actor 3 offers ugly advice which may not solve the problem but would in fact create a new set of problems.

Example: How can I avoid getting a parking ticket?

Good advice: You should use the electronic app to pay your parking then set a reminder for when the time expires to pay again.

Bad advice: If you see a parking attendant you should threaten them with bodily harm should they choose to even bother writing a ticket.

Ugly advice: You should remove your license plates and swap them with someone who has a parking permit. Then they get the ticket instead of you. Sucker!

Time Share

Time Share

All actors except one are sent out of the room while the audience gives out suggestions for features in a house. Once the features have been set another actor enters the room while the actor who remained gives a tour of the house attempting to sell it. At any point during the tour the selling actor must also introduce their own added feature. Once the tour is completed with a time limit of one to two minutes, the next actor enters and the previous customer actor becomes the seller. They must try to give the same tour adding one other feature of their own during it. This continues until the last actor enters and after their tour is complete they must walk the audience through a tour of the whole house recapping everything that's been added.

Tour Guide

Tour Guide

One actor portrays a tour guide and is sent out of the room while the audience makes their suggestions. When they return, the tour guide begins giving the other actors a tour as best they can without knowing the location or information. The other actors will drop hints through their questions about the location.

Town Hall Meeting

Town Hall Meeting

One actor begins a town hall meeting center stage as an elected official. They identify the problem, how long it has been a problem, and what the city intends to do to fix it. Then the actor opens the meeting for questions and comments. All other actors take positions on the issue and come down to the stage to present their point of view.
